Mrs. Griffin and Student

Galion Intermediate School is thrilled to announce that one of its talented 4th-grade students, Lillyana Breckenridge, has been selected to perform with the All-State Children’s Chorus at the upcoming Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Professional Development Conference on February 6, 2025.

Lillyana submitted an online audition in May 2024, where she showcased her vocal talents. In September, she was notified of her acceptance to join 130 exceptional young singers across Ohio. She is one of only two students chosen from Crawford County, making this achievement even more extraordinary.

The All-State Children’s Chorus will perform an exciting and diverse repertoire, including:

  • "Can You Hear Me" by Bob Chilcott

  • "Cedar Swamp" arranged by Jay Broeker

  • "Mary Had a Little Blues" by Charles A. Collins

  • "Sesere eeye," a traditional song from the Torres Strait Islands

  • "Song of the Fortune Tellers" by Giuseppe Verdi

The performance will occur during the OMEA Professional Development Conference, a premier event celebrating music education excellence in Ohio. This three-day conference will take place in Cleveland with over 30 ensemble performances. As an attendee of this conference, Mrs. Griffin will be beaming with pride while listening to Lillyana’s ensemble.

“We are incredibly proud of her hard work, dedication, and remarkable talent,” said Alisha Griffin, Music Teacher. “Her selection to the All-State Children’s Chorus is a special accomplishment. We know she will represent our school and community with pride.”
