The Galion Board of Education is excited to announce that Shannon King has been hired as the district’s Treasurer, starting August 1, 2025. Ms. King joined the staff at Galion City Schools in 2021 as the district’s Food Service Director. She has significantly contributed to the Galion School District in this administrative role. Whether it’s providing a variety of menu choices, improving efficiency within her department, or serving over 21,000 meals during the summer, Ms. King has shown her love and passion for the Galion community.
Among Ms. King’s many accomplishments, her most notable achievement is successfully implementing the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). This federal initiative enables all Galion students to receive FREE breakfast and lunch this school year and potentially continue for three more years.
“I am honored to step into the role of Treasurer for Galion City Schools. Great things are happening in the district, and I’m excited to collaborate with an amazing team to ensure the resources are in place to support our students and teachers.” Shannon King
Ms. King will replace Charlene Parkinson, who retired in December 2024. Ms. Parkinson will remain a consultant throughout this school year and work closely with Ms. King during the second semester to ensure a smooth transition.
As a result of this transition, the district is actively seeking candidates to fill the Food Service Director position. Interested individuals are encouraged to visit our website or contact us at human.resources@galionschools.org
