Galion Primary School has been honored as a Governor’s Science of Reading Recognition Program School. This prestigious designation celebrates the school’s commitment to providing high-quality literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading.
This recognition, awarded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, reflects the dedication of Galion Primary School’s teachers, staff, students, and families to fostering literacy achievement and ensuring that every student builds a strong reading foundation for future success.
“Our teachers work diligently every day to implement the best instructional strategies based on the Science of Reading,” said Principal Katy Erlsten. “This recognition is a testament to their passion, expertise, and commitment to student success. We are very proud of their efforts in fostering our students' love of reading and learning.”
Congratulations also to the district’s Literacy Team. Under the guidance of Chief Academic Officer Melisa Watters, the Literacy Team consists of Supervisor Jacqueline Robbeloth, Jenny Jackson, and Laura Humberson. Together, they have provided countless hours of Science of Reading training and support throughout the district.
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hartmann also praised the dedication of Galion’s educators, stating, “Galion Primary School’s commitment to literacy excellence is inspiring. This recognition affirms our teachers’ hard work and our district’s efforts to ensure that all students receive the best possible reading instruction. As part of this achievement and recognition, Galion Primary School will receive a celebratory banner from the Governor’s office to proudly display in the building.
