Galion City Schools proudly announces the implementation of a fresh new dress code policy, developed through extensive collaboration among students, administration, teachers, parents, and community members.
After careful consideration and dialogue within the Galion educational community, the decision was made to replace the former mandatory campus wear with a more inclusive and reflective dress code. These guidelines aim to ensure students dress appropriately for school while prioritizing health and safety.
Developed with input from various stakeholders, the guidelines permit comfortable, personal-choice clothing with exceptions for offensive or disruptive content. Sections of the new dress code detail requirements for covering certain body parts, appropriate attire, prohibited items, and enforcement procedures. Students may continue to participate in the campus wear program; however, if they wish not to participate, students must conform to the guidelines.
Specific attire and/or footwear will be required for occasional assignments or to meet classroom safety requirements, for example: public speaking, job readiness, PE class, science labs, industrial technology, etc.
Creating a comprehensive list covering every potential student dress code issue is impractical therefore, the administration will have the final say on unclear dress code violations. They will take necessary action, including contacting parents for support. Students in violation must switch to acceptable attire, and repeated offenses can lead to disciplinary action.
