Mrs. Garver's multi-age classroom had their first special of the year - art! They learned all about primary and secondary colors using a color wheel 🎨 thank you, Ms. Stricklen!

On Tuesday, Ms. Carpenter and Mrs. Garverick's 3rd grade class took their learning to the woods with a nature hike! They brought their iPads to take pictures and a paper bag to collect some items along the way. The students will be working on a science project. They will create a poster or presentation to show what they found, ask questions, and research! We can't wait to see what they come up with!🌳🪨

🧡💙 Friday, September 1st is Elementary Night at the Tiger Football Game for our students PreK-5! All students are encouraged to show their TIGER PRIDE and wear orange and blue. Students will get in FREE with a paying adult/guardian if wearing a wrist band. Wrist bands will be distributed at school. Students may bring signs, streamers, confetti, or other things that show their school spirit 📣 🍿 Please join us for a pregame tailgate at 5:00 in the park. Free popcorn, temporary tattoos, and hair color will be provided. 🥁 Come join us on the track in front of the concession stand at 6:15 Friday Night. When the band arrives at approximately 6:20, students will follow the Galion Tiger Marching Band across the front of the grandstand. Let’s Go TIGERS! 🐅 ** primary students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.

Our 3rd-grade staff spent their week helping our Class of '33 transition to our building. They sure did set the tone for fun learning for the year! 🐯

And just like that, week 1 is done ✅ we loved meeting our Tigers and can't wait for all the fun this year. Check out our 5th-graders at this first Friday Club. Students in each grade can earn extra recess each Friday for no missing assignments and following our behavioral expectations!

See, we take safety so seriously that our Superintendent Dr. Hartmann and GIS Principal Mrs. Heimann dressed up as traffic cones to help our morning drop-offs 🧡

As a reminder, our drop-off/pickup procedures have changed! A few notes regarding this: 🔁 If you are picking up/dropping off in the loop, you must be against the curb. 🚘 If you are parked, you must walk your student to and from the sidewalk. We will not allow students cross the parking lot by themselves. 🚸 we take safety very serious, and we thank you for following these procedures!

🤸🏻 Cheerleading Forms for the Galion Youth Clinic will be going out at open house or the first day of school! We would love for as many to participate as possible! Please turn in forms ASAP to Guarantee a T-shirt for the game. We will also be selling past years shirts & old pom poms in case your girls want to have them! We will be having NEW drop-off/pick-up procedures. Safety is always #1 - so please review before our first day of school ⚠️ 3️⃣ 3rd Graders will be dismissed through the cafeteria doors. Parents may walk to the cafeteria doors to meet your student for parent pick-up or may use the pick up line on the Primary side. Once parent pick-up is complete, parents who are waiting in cars can drive up to the sidewalk area and students will be dismissed by car. 4️⃣ 4th Graders will be dismissed through the art door and will wait for their car to pull up to the front of the building. 5️⃣ 5th Graders will be dismissed from the 5th grade hallway doors and will wait for their car to pull up to the sidewalk closest to the Intermediate building.

First year, but student taught Kindergarten at the Primary and 5th grade at the Intermediate 🎉 𝙁𝙪𝙣/𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛: I was a college swimmer & swam for 16 years! 🐯𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙄𝙎? To form wonderful relationships with students & encourage their growth as learners! — 𝓢𝓴𝔂𝓮 𝓒𝓪𝓻𝓹𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻 🏫 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙪𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙧? I just graduated at The Ohio State University in May of 2023. I student taught 2nd grade at the Primary School in fall of 2022. 🎉 𝙁𝙪𝙣/𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛: I love to travel! 🐯 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙄𝙎? My hope is to develop positive relationships with fellow staff members, parents & families and of course my students! I am excited to develop more as an educator and start my teaching career at GIS.

Campus Wear at GIS. A reminder that our building has Campus Wear. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 - please read below and reach out to our office for any questions. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: Acceptable dress must be appropriately sized and fitted. NO baggy, sagging, or excessively tight clothing is permitted. Clothing that is distressed or has rips/holes in it is not to be worn, even with tights under it. Clothing with profane or obscene pictures and/or lettering or which refers to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, firearms, or related material is prohibited. Judgment of an administrator in matters of dress and appearance is final. Attire cannot be altered and must conform to the following requirements: Students wearing face coverings, including masks or face shields will not display any language or visuals that are vulgar, profane, or violent in nature. Students violating these expectations will be subject to discipline. 👕 TOPS 1. All shirts must have sleeves. 2. Plain blue, orange, white/off-white, gray OR black shirts may be worn. Any combination of the afore mentioned colors is acceptable. Collared shirt and t-shirts are acceptable. A small chest logo of no more than 4 inches is permitted on shirts. Galion Tiger Spirit Wear is encouraged. 3. Galion Themed shirts may be worn any day as long as they fit the color requirements. 4. Approved colors for all hoodies, sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece tops and scarfs are white/off-white, blue, orange, gray OR black. 5. Plain long-sleeved white/off-white, orange, blue, black or gray shirts are acceptable. 👖BOTTOMS 1. Permitted lower body attire must be worn around the waist. No holes or tears. 2. NO denim, jeans, sweats, tights, yoga pants, leggings, or windbreaker style of pants shall be worn. 3. Skirts/jumpers must be fingertip length or longer. Back slit is to be no more than 4 inches above the knee. 4. Shorts must be of fingertip length. Khaki (tan), or dark blue. Capri style pants are allowed. 5. Approved colors for all bottoms are solid color khaki (tan), dark blue or black. Corduroy material in solid khaki (tan) or dark blue is acceptable. 👟 FOOTWEAR 1. Heels are limited to a 2-inch height. 2. No “wheelie” shoes, slides, flip-flops, slippers or cleats. 3. The entire foot must be covered at all times. 4. Athletic/tennis shoes are permitted.
