This week, Galion Primary School showered teachers and staff with appreciation. Each day encouraged students to celebrate the staff by writing notes, giving compliments and even dressing up like a teacher!
Today is Substitute Teacher Appreciation Day! Substitute teachers are essential in K-12 education. They serve as educational bridges, providing continuity and making it possible to seamlessly educate students in the absence of regular classroom educators. Substitute teachers make it possible for teachers to get the breaks they need while keeping kids engaged and on track for success. We are grateful for all of our reliable and enthusiastic substitute teachers!
Today 19 professionals from 12 employers visited Galion High School to meet with students in grades 10-12 for Career Exploration Day!
Career Exploration Day, organized by Career Coach Beth Hildreth, is a way for our students to explore a variety of different career paths and better understand the field of work or military service commitment. The professionals and experts shared entry-level career options in their fields, opportunities for long-term growth, what they look for when hiring, the benefits and some of the more difficult parts of their jobs.
Thank you to all of those who participated in today's event, the Food Service Department for providing lunch for our presenters, and the Industrial Tech class for making them personalized keychains as a token of our appreciation! We are so grateful for your support of our Tigers!
Today is National Education Support Professionals Day! Education Support Professionals (ESPs) include individuals who provide essential clerical services, custodial and maintenance services, food services, health and student services, paraeducation, security services, skilled trades, technical services, and transportation services. Without our ESPs, we could not serve our students. Thank you to every one of our devoted ESPs for your hard work!

Select student-athletes from Galion High School (GHS) shadowed Shelby High School student-athletes for the day on Wednesday, Nov. 9. In turn, Shelby High School student-athletes visited GHS earlier in the week.
Schools in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference (MOAC) have established a student-athlete exchange program in an effort to promote good sportsmanship, the sharing of ideas, and student leadership. Each year, the MOAC schools select a partner district with whom they “exchange” student-athletes. The district then selects eight underclassmen who demonstrate leadership potential to visit their partner school for a day.
This year, Galion has selected five juniors and three sophomores to participate in the exchange. Programs represented include Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Swimming, Track, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Marching Band, Baseball, Wrestling, Soccer, and Football.
Students in Mrs. Laughbaum's Optimal Physical/Athletic Wellness class created games to play using Nutrition as the main focus. Once completed, students will play each other's games and give written reviews.
Yesterday, during our professional development day, Lieutenant Bourne from Galion City Police Department discussed with our staff safety responses that can be implemented in the event of an emergency and the police department's role in supporting students and staff.
Thank you for your time, Lieutenant!
Thank you to all the brave men and women of the armed forces, past and present, for your bravery and dedication to our nation.
This school year, we will remain focused on what it means to be a Galion Tiger with our newly established Profile of a Tiger. This Profile is a roadmap guiding our district to what we consider to be successful Galion graduates. These values should extend beyond our hallways, classrooms and arenas of competition.
Each month, we will focus on a specific trait in and outside of the classroom, continuing to develop these skills and traits in each and every Galion student. In November, we are discussing what it means to be self-disciplined.
Our students are self-disciplined, engaging in proactive/positive behavior, such as responsibility, structure, routine and choosing how to properly react to situations. Our students are ambitious and driven toward their own goals, ready to persevere when things become challenging.
It’s okay not to be okay. This is a statement often spoken in the world of mental health and a motto that our district has prioritized for our students and staff. This week celebrates school psychologists and their expertise in mental health, learning and behavior to help students thrive academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally.
Galion Primary and Intermediate students delivered over 4,000 pairs of socks to the homeless shelter in Marion following their ninth annual sock drive in "Socktober." 🧦
